The SID chip provides the sound effects in the Commodore 64. Unfortunately they very often fail and replacement chips are hard to find (and expensive). SwinSID is a modern replica based on an AVR microcontroller. Search for "nano swinsid tutorial" for more details (eBay no longer permits links in listings). All audio features of the SID are provided, SwinSID does not implement the analogue inputs used by paddles. Replaces the MOS 6581 in all breadbin (long board) C64s. There is no user-selectable jumper so they are not suitable for the C64c which has an 8580 instead.
